Appeals - international
Many of you will have heard of the earthquake, tsunami and (now) a volcanic eruption in Indonesia.
Tearfund is running an appeal and you can support their work by clicking on the image.
Tearfund says: -
On Friday 28 September, a powerful earthquake struck Indonesia. It led to a six-metre-high tsunami hitting the city of Palu. More than 1,200 people are confirmed dead but rescuers fear this number will rise significantly.
Many buildings have been badly damaged or destroyed. Thousands of homes have collapsed along with hospitals, hotels and shops, and the airport is not functioning.
As search and rescue efforts continue, our network of church-based relief and development organisations are preparing to respond to urgent needs. This will include the distribution of food, blankets, temporary shelter such as tents or tarpaulins, and medicines. Children separated from their families are particularly vulnerable, and many people are without clean drinking water or electricity.
We think we have it bad with the strong winds from Storm Ali but as you may have seen on the news, Typhoon Mangkut has wracked devastation in Asia pacific.
An estimated 70 people were buried by a landslide in Itogon, Benguet after Typhoon Mangkhut hit the Philippines. Stone by stone, the community is working to recover them.
Mangkhut has also destroyed crop fields across the Philippines - affecting the livelihoods of many.
