Meet the Team | PCC | Electoral Roll | From the Vicar’s pen |
Who we are
Our church is a mixture of diverse people, with many different gifts and abilities. We try to recognise and use these gifts in many ways in our church family. You can find out more about some of these people by following the links below.
We have an agreed Mission Statement, and try each year to be guided by it as we follow God's calling to be his church in Southwater.
Giving is an essential part of our church life. you can find more details about this on our stewardship page.
Our Leadership Team are people who play a prominent part in the life of the church, and have clearly defined roles and areas of responsibility. They meet (as the Standing Committee) with the Vicar to support and advise him, and together agree on the priorities for the church's worship and witness. After more than thirty years we say farewell to Derek and Rosemary Yates as they leave the village to start a new life closer to their daughter and grandchildren.
We have an elected PCC (Parochial Church Council) who oversee the life of the church, and is the key decision making group within the church.
The PCC are elected at the Annual Church Meeting each year, which is a meeting open to all people living in Southwater. To vote at this meeting, you can ask to go on to the Electoral Roll. Details are on the electoral roll page, or you can speak to our Electoral Roll Officer, Barbara Varley.
You can read the Churchwardens' Annual report delivered at the Annual meeting in April.
As a church we want to play our part in the wider world, and so support different Partners in Mission in addition to local, national and international charities.
The Church sponsors the local Scout Group - 2nd Southwater formed more than 30 years ago by the Rev Paul Messenger. To see more recent Scout events click here.
Each month the vicar writes an article in the Southwater News.
