It can become the bearer of our prayers
It can say “I love you” or “I miss you”
It can say “Help me” or “Listen to me"
It can say “Thank you”.

A lighted candle can unlock our feelings

It can ask “Why?”
It can say “Goodbye”
It can carry unshed tears
It can calm unsaid fears.

 A lighted candle can celebrate saints

The well-known ones
And those known only to us.

Saints can inspire us
Comfort us,
And still be there for us.

And with our lighted candles
We can be there for them
And for those who miss them.

For those who can’t be comforted
For those who grieve

A lighted candle is a silent prayer
Burning itself to death
As it lights the way to life.

In Christ’s hands
A lighted candle can work miracles.
