Baptism is a really important moment in your life, whether you are young or old, and so we will do everything we can to make it a special day.
God is gracious, and reaches out towards us, and calls us to respond to his love. Baptism is one of the ways we can do this. As adults you will be asked to affirm your faith in God, Father Son and Holy Spirit. For children too young to make such a profession of faith, parents and godparents are asked to make promises on behalf of themselves and their child. They promise to do all they can to help their child grow in faith, and walk in the way of Christ.
Church is the family of baptised people, who gather together each Sunday to fulfill their baptismal promises, or walking with Christ, and growing in faith. An essential part of baptism is being welcomed in to this new family, and so all our baptisms take place as part of our Sunday services.
We would ask you, as preparation for your baptism to come to church as often as you can. It is important for you to know the family to which you are asking to belong, and to experience for yourself how we can help you fulfill the promises that you will make to be faithful in public worship and private prayer.
If you or your child would like to be baptised, the best way to start the process is by coming to church on a Sunday morning. You can then talk to the Vicar after the service. He will ask you to complete and return the form below, and after a period of preparation, a date can be booked.

Thanksgiving for the Birth of a child
Some people are not sure whether they can make the baptismal promises. In this case, it is possible to have a simple service of thanksgiving for the a new child, which includes their naming.
Many couples find that this meets their initial needs, after the birth of their child. They then have more time to decide whether they do want to go on and have a baptism for their child.
If you would like to know more about this, then please come to one of our family services, and talk to the vicar after the service.
